Sick

I've been sick and as a result, the blog has come last. I'm just hoping to be better by Christmas!

Mia had an IEP today and she's now going to qualify for Occupational Therapy at school, twice a month for 30 minutes at a time. This is great because any extra help is awesome for her. They did some testing on her over the last couple of months and she was above average in several different areas (because she's really smart), but she lacked fine motor skills with her hands, like cutting, buttoning, zipping, holding a pencil properly (she's just slightly off with that skill), stringing beads. This is awesome that she'll be getting some extra attention at school. The only slight hiccup, and we are praying it won't be one at all, is that the OT only comes on Tuesday and she can only do MARE on Tuesday. We want her to be able to do both, so the only way it will work is if she is able to switch to an 8am MARE spot and then be at school by 9:30 for speech and OT. So, we are praying that it will work out.

We have a special treat for Christmas week, we are going to be off to San Diego for Christmas with my side of the family (Lisa's). We are looking forward to the time away and just relaxing and recovering, maybe doing a few fun activities...like the zoo! We'll update you when we get back, but don't be surprised if there is nothing on here until the new year.

Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas!!!!

And all was CALM!

We've had a busy week at our house, Calvin had his 15 month check up...he's doing great. The doctor said he is long and skinny, no surprise there. His speech is blossoming and he's way ahead of the game there, between signing and talking he can tell us what he wants quite well, "cheese...ball...shoes...socks...mama...", those are some of his favorites. One of the strangest things is that he will sign "milk" but he also does this clicking sound at the same time and I have no clue where he picked that up from.

Last night we got to see a local tradition for the first time, we went to CALM (California Living Museum) to see their holiday lights. They are our local zoo with animals native to California, and over Christmas they decorate throughout the zoo in lights and it is so much fun. The kids had a blast. You get to travel all along the trails and see these amazing light displays. They also have a train that takes you on a ride and a carousal. These pictures really don't do it justice, but here they are.
