Bumps and Bruises

When I was a child, I was clumsy.  Always bumping into things and getting bruises all over.  I had a few fairly large mishaps.  Asher may be following after his Mama's footsteps...

On Wednesday while we were picking Mia up from school, Asher managed to face plant himself into one of those tall skinny sprinklers.  I think back now and am so grateful that he landed where he did, it could have been a lot worse...a whole lot worse.

After a trip to the doctor and a tetanus shot later, the kid is running around and not fearing much of anything still.

Spring Is In The Air

It's been so nice here.  The weather has been perfect and the kids have been enjoying being outside as much as possible.  Of course, we all got sick with a yucky cold bug and are still trying to recover from that.  I don't know why the cough has to linger so long with kids, but it does.  Part of me wonders if the allergies in the air aren't contributing to that also.

We are just plugging along.  We are looking forward to seeing Brad's sisters and families in the next few weeks and hopefully we will be finished with all the sickness by then!

So, I guess no news is good news, right?

Love these colors!

Asher loves to dig!

The Dentist

Mia and Calvin had their routine check ups to the dentist today and they both did great.

It is still very traumatic for Mia to get her teeth cleaned by the dentist, so I'm always super grateful when she doesn't have any cavities.  We try so hard to brush and floss daily because we know that it will be awful if she ever has to get a cavity filled.  Her mouth is really tiny, so there is some concern about space issues as she loses her baby teeth and gets her adult teeth, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.  She does have a couple of wiggly teeth, but none that have come out yet...one of these days.

About a year ago I realized that Calvin watching his sister get her teeth cleaned was making him anxious, so I started bringing a helper (today Grandma Cheri) and she waits out front with the kids while I go back with them one on one.  Calvin did fantastic today, no tears and no trauma.  What a big boy!

Asher will have his first teeth cleaning in a few weeks, he already has 12 teeth!  And I think he has a few more that are coming in right now.  His 1 year molars are already in and have been for awhile now.  Time to start him on the dentist routine.  :)

Thank you Lord for no cavities and good visits to the dentist!

Happy March!

Aside from cute things the kids say every now and then, there's not much new news to report.

Mia had a kidney ultrasound at the beginning of the month that came back normal.  We still do these every now and then because Mia still has some mild reflux in her bladder.

Calvin slid down the slide face first in his Sunday School classroom and hit the carpet resulting in a major large rug burn on his nose.  It is so hard to keep him from playing with or picking at the scar.  We're just hoping that there won't be a permanent scar when he finally heals.

Calvin has also taken to reading these days.  He is recognizing more words and starting to sound out basic ones and loves to sit and read with anyone.  It brings back such fond memories of Mia starting to read.  I love how excited he gets when he can read a word.

Asher is becoming more verbal and it is easy to see that he understands so much.  I can ask him to go and find his shoes in the morning and he will go over to the shoebox and bring me back one.  His favorite activity these days is to find a tub of something and dump it all out.  I'm not sure why that is so much fun for kids, but it is.

Thank you Lord for these little lives, what a precious gift they are!
